In today’s rapidly evolving job market, the need for skill development in the Catawba County area has become increasingly more important. The traditional notion of a lifelong career in a single field is not as common as in previous times and replaced by a demand for an adaptable and versatile workforce. Recent global survey results revealed by McKinsey & Co. and SHRM show over 40% of business respondents reporting “employees with skills gaps” currently and similar projections for the near future.
These reports underscore the need for individuals to continually enhance their skills, stay abreast of emerging technologies, and embrace lifelong learning. By investing in skill development, we equip ourselves to thrive in an ever-changing workforce landscape.
K-64 works with local businesses and educational organizations to help reduce this skill gap. One is the CVCC Maintenance Tech Bootcamp, which provides instruction, lab experience, & training in the fundamentals of maintenance tech: mechanical systems, fluid power, and electrical systems. The program is certified by the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSCC), and upon completion, industry, students are awarded a certificate.
Through programs like these, employees, employers, and educational institutions can connect to reduce the skill gap and develop all the skills needed for the modern job market.
